Itinerary
The tour begins in the morning with hotel or meeting point pickup in Tirana, followed by a comfortable drive to Durrës. The first stop is the Royal Villa of King Zog, perched on a hill overlooking the sea. Though now abandoned, the villa remains a symbol of Albania’s royal past and offers panoramic views of the Adriatic coastline.
From the villa, the group descends by foot to explore a restored watchtower, now serving as a viewing platform with a 360° view over the city and the sea. The journey continues to the Durrës Amphitheater, one of the most important Roman monuments in Albania and among the largest of its kind in the Balkans. While only partially excavated, it offers fascinating insights into the city’s ancient past. The tour also includes a walk past the remains of the city’s old defensive walls and a visit to the Venetian Tower.
Next, stroll along the lively Vollga Promenade, lined with seaside cafés and restaurants. At the far end, reach the Fenix viewpoint—a peaceful spot to take in the sea breeze and admire the coastline.
After the walking tour, you’ll have 2 to 3 hours of free time (depending on the season) to enjoy lunch, relax, or swim at the nearby public beach. In summer, this is the perfect opportunity to cool off and soak up the sun.
At the end of the afternoon, the tour returns to Tirana, offering a well-rounded experience of history, culture, and relaxation.
